The sanctuary fills with migrants in winter, so the cool months are by far the best.
On foot, by cycle or by e-rickshaw — Bharatpur is one of the most pedestrian-friendly reserves in India, with no jeeps disturbing the marsh. It makes for slow, absorbing birding.
