Kunal organised an incredible trip to Jawai to see leopards. This is the third trip Kunal has organised for me. His advice on where to stay was spot-on as always, and he arranged for the hotel to lend me a camera as well as sorting everything out when there was a mix-up with the safari guides. Thanks for a really memorable weekend.

We recently visited Rajasthan's leopard territory at Sena village. Transport, accommodation and morning/evening safaris were all organised for us. In addition, we visited the surrounding villages, the Bera forest with its bear caves, the Jawai dam, its museum, its beautiful bird-rich backwaters and its swaying green fields. Wild Arch Safaris gave us three fantastic sightings of the leopards — thank you Kunal for putting it all together.

We've now completed three safaris through Kunal: Ranthambore, Jim Corbett, and Kaziranga. We are repeat customers for a reason! Kunal truly takes care of you. He is thoroughly transparent and very quick with communication. He also places you with excellent guides and lodges at every step of the journey.

Things to know as you plan

Frequently asked questions.

  • Jawai is best from October to March, when the weather is cool and comfortable and the flamingos and migratory birds gather on the dam. It can be visited into the pre-monsoon months, but the winter is the most pleasant and reliable time.

The cooler winter dates are the most popular and fill early.

  • Always private. You have your own jeep, your own driver and your own naturalist, often working with a local Rebari spotter who knows exactly where the leopards rest among the boulders.

  • Jawai has one of the highest densities of leopards in Asia, and they are remarkably tolerant of humans. We recommend three to four safaris over a three-night stay. Besides leopards, you may also see sloth bears, rusty-spotted cat, hyena and several species of birds.
