I have been on three separate safari trips in India, and the only one where we didn't see anything was the one we did not organise through Kunal — so I've learned the lesson! Kanha is open from 1 October to 30 June. The winter months are beautiful and comfortable, with mist over the meadows at dawn, while the hot months of April to June concentrate wildlife at water and offer the best tiger sightings. The park closes for the monsoon from July.
The best months fill early, so it's worth planning permits and lodge well ahead.
