October to March is the best window — cool, dry weather and comfortable days on the water. The mangroves are hot and humid outside these months, and the monsoon brings heavy rain.
Everything here runs by the tide, so we plan the boat schedule around it.
Entirely by boat — the Sunderbans is a maze of tidal creeks with no roads through the core. You watch from the boat and the watchtowers as the tide reveals the mudbanks.
The Sunderbans is home to a very unique faunal biodiversity, one that has adapted to survival in extreme conditions — typhoons, brackish water and the dynamic nature of the forest with the daily tidal movement. Although we don't guarantee it, you may get to see salt-water crocodiles, Asian small-clawed otters, Bengal tiger, leopard cat, fishing cat, water monitor lizard and various herbivores. The park is also home to 8 of India's 12 kingfisher species. Apart from kingfishers, you may spot curlews and other waders, buffy fish owl, mangrove whistler, other birds of prey and migratory birds in the winter season.
