We had a great trip with Kunal to Kaziranga. It was really well put together. He checked in with us every step of the way. When a Presidential visit pushed us out of our lodge a day early, he seamlessly made the last-minute changes. We saw about 50 rhinos, 15 elephants, a tiger, gibbon apes, and many types deer and birds.

Kunal expertly crafted a trip for our family (parents, grandparent, 8 and 10 yo boys) to Kaziranga. We saw hoolock gibbons, 3 different kinds of deer, otters, amazing birds, and so many rhinos. The naturalist and safari driver that Kunal arranged were kind, knowledgeable, and engaged everyone, including the kids. They went above and beyond to make sure that we enjoyed our time. The hotel was clean and comfortable, beautifully situated, and with great amenities and delicious food. Kunal was in frequent communication with us leading up to the trip and answered all questions promptly.

Friends of ours suggested us to work with Kunal. He organized a trip to Kaziranga for them. He made our trip seamless by organizing a taxi driver that accompanied us from the landing to the take off. He took care of reserving the second part of our week in Kaziranga: picked the hotel, booked the 4 jeep drives and scheduled other visits if we wanted. I planned the first part, a tea plantation, and he took the time to go to that place and visit the gibbons sanctuary to enhance his knowledge as a travel agent. This shows how dedicated he is to make the best experience for his clients. He gave us one total price to pay which took care of all the expenses we needed. We highly recommend his services and are planning to keep working with him for our next trip.

Things to know as you plan

Frequently asked questions.

  • November to April is ideal — dry, pleasant mornings when the gibbons are active. The sanctuary pairs naturally with Kaziranga, which is at its best over the same winter months.

The gibbons are most vocal at first light, so we start the walk early.

  • Yes. Hollongapar is explored entirely on foot with a naturalist along forest paths — the best way to move quietly beneath the canopy and find the gibbon families as they feed.

  • The western hoolock gibbon — India's only ape — is the headline, along with six other primates including the capped langur, stump-tailed macaque and slow loris. Birders come for the Red-headed Trogon and other eastern specialities. Sightings are never guaranteed; this is wild forest.
